Cottons and linens are best to use. Upholstery fabric can be a little too heavy-weight to make into a lampshade. Depending on what look you want, some fabrics create a more sheer effect allowing the light source to illuminate the design (Liberty London Art Prints allow for this). Thicker fabrics will prevent light from illuminating the design but will create a cosy or dramatic light source depending on the size and orientation of your shade. Dark, coloured inners add to the drama and work well for ceiling lights.
Many people love to opt for well-known style classics from favourite high-street designers – Liberty London Art Fabrics, Morris & Co, Osbourne & Little, Zoffany, Designer’s Guild, House of Hackney, Clarke & Clarke, Nina Campbell, Amy Butler, Harlequin, Romo, Sanderson, Villa Nova to name but a few.
Our mission is to support the brand development of emerging artists & designers, so LOVE it when people source unusual and authentic finds. Please do look far and wide for designs created by talented people seeking to develop their brand and creativity. In many cases, we can arrange for fabric to be printed as well, so feel inspired and be bold. Create something truly unique.
Although, we do really love mostly working with unusual designs, we are just as happy working with much loved classics, so the choice is yours!
